Romania to grant additional package of non-reimbursable financial assistance to Moldova

05 April 2022

Romanian foreign minister Bogdan Aurescu will co-chair with Annalena Baerbock, German Foreign Minister, and Jean-Yves Le Drian, French Foreign Minister, an International Conference in Support of the Republic of Moldova, according to a Foreign Affairs Ministry (MFA) statement.

The conference, co-organized by Germany, France and Romania in Berlin on April 4-5, aims to launch the Moldova Support Platform and a call for donations from EU, G7 member states, international financial institutions and other states and international organizations.

At the event, Aurescu will announce Romania's decision to grant an additional package of non-reimbursable financial assistance, according to the MFA.

Romania has already granted Moldova a non-reimbursable financial aid amounting to EUR 100 mln earlier this year.

Thus, the initiative of the heads of diplomacy in Bucharest, Berlin and Paris aims to generate additional robust support for the Republic of Moldova, at the political, financial and material level, as well as in terms of expertise for reforms.
