Supermarket chain Mega Image Romania moves its offices to the mall

22 February 2016

Supermarket chain Mega Image, Belgian group Delhaize’s local subsidiary, will move its local headquarters to the new Plaza Romania Offices project owned by Turkish Anchor Group.

Mega Image has signed a leasing contract for 3,360 sqm in the office project, where it will relocate about 400 employees. The supermarket chain has about 9,200 employees in Romania, most of them working in the company’s supermarkets and warehouses.

Mega Image has increased its business in Romania in recent years as it opened many new supermarkets and proximity shops under the Shop&Go brand. The company’s decision to move to new headquarters reflects this increase, according to Vassilis Stavrou, general manager of Mega Image Romania.

The Plaza Romania Offices are located in an extension of the Plaza Romania Mall in western Bucharest, which was reconverted and revamped. The project has 10,500 sqm of office space and 1,800 parking places.

Plaza Romania lost some of its tenants after the opening of the AFI Palace Cotroceni mall, one of Bucharest’s biggest shopping centers, which is located in the same area.

The Anchor Group owns the Plaza Romania Mall and the Bucharest Mall (Vitan), which is the oldest shopping mall in Bucharest. The group also owns another office building next to Plaza Romania, called Anchor Plaza.
