Commercial real estate transactions in Central and Eastern Europe, including office, retail, and industrial spaces, reached last year a historic high of over EUR 9.55 billion, with an annual growth of 19%.

In Romania, the traded volume amounted to EUR 644 million, down by 45% compared to 2014, according to a report by real estate consultancy company CBRE.

Romania ranks fifth in the region, after Poland (EUR 4 billion, up 31%), the Czech Republic (EUR 2.7 billion, up 33%), the Baltic countries (EUR 917 million, up 126%), and Hungary (EUR 657 million, up 42%).

The volume of investment in Romania in 2015 was, predictably, below the level of 2014 when several big deals took place, including the takeover of Real by Auchan.

The investors’ interest in Romania will grow in 2016, reads the CBRE press release. Major transactions are also expected in Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Slovakia.
