Real estate market recovers in Romania on land and residential segments

21 May 2015

The Romanian real estate market has had a more dynamic start in 2015, compared with the activity recorded in the previous years.

Land transactions have increased in the first part of 2015, according to Crosspoint Investment Banking & Real Estate.

Investors choose plots suitable for office buildings or for apartment compounds. Most of them are interested in plots of 800-2,000 sqm.

Retailers previously supported the land market, but residential developers have increased their activity lately. If the trend continues, land prices might go up, said Mihai Dumitrescu, managing partner with Crosspoint Investment Banking & Real Estate.

However, this refers to plots which are well located and benefit from valid urbanistic plans.

The real estate market has also recovered on the residential sector, as people resumed buying apartments under construction.
