Plane carrying Romanian Prime Minister misses landing

20 April 2015

The plane that brought Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta and Senate president Calin Popescu Tariceanu from Cluj-Napoca to Bucharest missed its first landing attempt on Saturday. Romanian state-owned airline Tarom operates the plane. The company said this was a normal situation given the weather conditions.

The strong wind forced the pilot to circle around the airport and try another landing, which was successful. Ponta and Tariceanu were returning from Cluj-Napoca, where they attended the congress of the Magyar Democratic Union (UDMR).

The PM said that he has been flying a lot and that this was one of the worse situations he has encountered.
