"At a regional level, the Philip Morris factory in Romania is one of the most efficient operations, so the recent decisions to expand its production capacity didn't come as a surprise, but as a step in the company's multi-annual development strategy," according to company representatives cited by local Mediafax.

The new production line in Otopeni will cover both local demand and the exports “in accordance with the company’s international strategy of managing the brand portfolio”. The company didn’t reveal by how much the production capacity will increase. Currently, the Otopeni factory has a capacity of 25 billion cigarettes per year.
