Romanian capital city Bucharest will host a Danube Summit from November 8, an event that is expected to reconfirm in a final declaration the political support for the future EU's Danube Strategy. The event precedes the December summit meeting of the European Council, where the European Commission will unveil a draft action plan for the Danube Strategy, with a final version to be approved by the June 2011 summit meeting of the European Council.
A delegation of the European Parliament's Regional Development Commission is visiting Romania from November 3 until November 5 for an on-site assessment of the use of structural funds. The delegation will also visit project sites in Giurgiu, Arad and Timisoara.
Daniel Negreanu, an internationally famous poker player of Romanian origin, attended a poker tournament which took place in Bucharest on October 31st. Negreanu, nicknamed Kid Poker, is a professional poker player and one of the highest earning poker players of all times. His total live tournament winnings exceed USD 13 million.

Xerox has appointed Gabriel Pantelimon general manager of Xerox Romania and the Republic of Moldova, the company has announced. Pantelimon will replace Petr Sichrovsky, who will return to the Czech Republic but will not stay with Xerox, according to Romanian media.
Emanuele Butta is the new executive vice-president in charge of retail with UniCredit Tiriac Bank, pending on the approval from the Romanian Central Bank (BNR). Butta will replace Zoltan Major, who will hold a regional position with the UniCredit group.
Iñaki Berroeta (in picture) is the new CEO of telecom company Vodafone in Romania, replacing Liliana Solomon from the beginning of December this year, the company has announced. Inaki Berroeta joins Vodafone Romania from the helm of the subsidiary in Malta, where he has been GM for three years.
