Over 150 Romanian museums and cultural institutions to open doors again on Night of Museums this May

09 May 2014

Over 150 museums and cultural organizations in Romania will organize free visits and other special events on the night of May 17, for the annual Night of Museums event, now in its tenth edition.

The National Network of Romanian Museums coordinates the event and organizes routes among museums in Bucharest, Cluj and Timisoara, within the “Night of Museums. One night, different scenarios” project.

In Bucharest, some 30 museums and cultural organizations will organize exhibitions, concerts, shows, screenings and workshops.

Some of the museums in Bucharest that take part in the event are: “Dumitru Furnica-Minovici“ Museum of Western Art, Bellu Museum, National Military Museum “King Ferdinand I”, National Museum of Art of Romania, Aviation Museum, National Museum of Geology, “Grigore Antipa“ National Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of Maps and Old Books and “Dimitrie Gusti“ National Village Museum. Find the entire list here.

Buses will provide transport between museums, through the special Night of Museums (Noaptea Muzeelor) line. Find more about the event here.

Last year, around half of million people visited the main museums and cultural institutions in Romania for the Night of Museums.

The event is being organized across Europe, too, with 3,000 museums celebrating the Night of Museums every year on May 18.
