06 January 2014

The 111,000 Romanians who celebrated New Year’s Eve in Romanian resorts this year spent a total of RON 95 million (or some EUR 21 million), with 15 percent more than in the previous year, according to the information from the Federation of Tourism Employers in Romania (FPTR).

Over 10,000 Romanians spent the night between years abroad, 30 percent more than in the previous season, and spent some EUR 5.3 million on tourism services, shows the data provided by FPTR, based on the reservation system RezEx.ro and on data from the polled tour operators.

Some 25,000 people went to the mountain areas, while 30,000 Romanians spent the New Year’s Eve in large hotels across Romania, up some 20 percent year-on-year.

There were 29,000 tourists in rural areas, while 26,000 people spent the night between years in Spa resorts. However, only 600 Romanians went to the seaside, and 100 to the Danube Delta.

FPTR also found that the tariffs haven’t changed from the previous year, except for the Danube Delta and rural areas where the prices increased by three percent this year.
