Over 1,000 drugs in Romania become cheaper

15 April 2015

Over 1,000 drugs from Romania’s new national catalog, which could enter into force in June, will be cheaper, some with up to 20%.

The new catalog will also include 40 extra drugs compared to the current catalogue, said Marius Savu, president of the National Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices, quoted by Mediafax. These are innovative drugs, introduced on the list of compensated and free drugs in 2014.

The agency will also update the prices upwards based on the current exchange rate, from RON 4.2/ EUR to RON 4.4/ EUR. However, the increase in prices would be almost insignificant, said Savu.
