OMV Petrom sells wind farm in Romania

19 October 2015

Romania’s largest oil & gas company OMV Petrom, part of the Austrian group OMV, wants to sell the only wind farm it has in Romania.

This is located in Dobrogea, south-east of the country, and has a capacity of 45 MW. It was completed in 2011, with EUR 90 million.

OMV Petrom has decided to drop the businesses which are not related to its core operations, due to the low oil prices.

The wind park’s sale is part of a wider plan to cut costs, according to Bloomberg. OMV representatives have declined to make any comment.

OMV Petrom wants to reduce the investment costs by 30% this year, and sell the mature exploitations in Romania. It plans to focus instead on exploiting gas in the Black Sea.
