The number of Romanians who went to work in the UK reached a record figure in 2014, according to Government figures obtained by the Telegraph. Last year, about 824,000 people came to work in Great Britain, 152,000 of which were Romanians.

The number of Romanians who were legally registered for the insurance services in the UK tripled last year compared to two years ago. Over 152,000 Romanians registered for National Insurance (NI) numbers in 2014/15, compared to just 47,000 in 2013.

Of the total number of immigrants, 630,000 were from the EU, 100,000 came from Asia, and the remaining 100,000 from other parts of the world.
