New conference center helps Hotel Epoque’s sales go up 52%

15 May 2014

It was a good first quarter for the five – star boutique hotel Epoque in Bucharest, as it sales went up by half, to almost half a million euros. Epoque posted EUR 423,000 in sales in January to March this year, up 52 percent year-on-year, it announced.

This was partially due to more than double sales on the meetings, incentives, conventions and events segment - in short, MICE, but also thanks to 40 percent higher revenues from accommodation services. The events part was boosted by a half a million euro investment in 2013 in the Epoque Events Gallery center.

Last year the hotel posted a turnover of EUR 1.68 million, a 17 percent growth, and this year the owners hope to see a similar growth, of 18 percent, to some EUR 2 million. Its occupancy rate was of 67 percent, above the rate of 50 percent in 2012, as well as 11 percentage points higher than the average occupancy rate in Bucharest last year.

The hotel, owned by Diana Popescu, who is also the CEO (pictured below), has 45 apartments, a French restaurant, wintergarden and spa, as well as conference center.
