New car sales in Romania up by 16% in 2015

Romania saw over 81,100 new car registrations in 2015, up by 15.7% compared to the previous year.

The new car sales reached over 8,700 in December last year, up by 56% year-on-year, according to Romania's Directorate for Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration.

Dacia ranked first among the Romanians’ favorite car brands, with almost 2,900 cars sold in December 2015, up by 58% compared to December 2014. Skoda ranked second with 881 units, followed by Ford, with 722 cars, and Renault with 657 units.

The less registered car brands in December includes Lexus, with only seven cars, Jaguar with six units, Subaru with four cars, Bentley with three cars and Maserati, Mercedes-AMG and SsangYong, each with two units. Only one Lamborghini was sold in December.
