A new car producer could enter the Romanian market, said Constantin Stroe, president of the Romanian Car Producers’ Association (ACAROM).

Romania already had two failures in attracting a new car producer next to Dacia/Renault and Ford. A third one would be hard to digest, said Stroe, cited by local Economica.net. The new producer could come from Asia, according to him.

Without mentioning a certain producer or country, Stroe said that Asians, especially South Koreans, are very aggressive in expanding to Europe

. The European Union has a tax-free agreement with South Korea and the Asian country sells 800,000 units in the EU annually, whereas the EU only sells 120,000 units annually in South Korea.

In 2008, Romania failed in attracting Mercedes to set up an assembly plant in the country. Another failed project is the Jaguar plant in Brasov, which was finally made in Slovakia.
