Net average salary goes up in Romania

The net average wage in Romania reached RON 1,918 (EUR 423.5) in November, up by EUR 10.3 (or 2.5%) compared to the previous month.

The IT sector recorded the highest net average salary of EUR 1,050 whereas hotels and restaurants had the lowest average salary of almost EUR 240, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).

In most sectors of the economy, the net average salary increased in November compared to October. The growth was due to various annual or Christmas-related bonuses, as well as higher revenues.

The highest increases were registered in activities auxiliary to financial intermediation, such as insurance activities or pension funds, where the average salary went up by 25.5%. Other sectors such as the manufacture of motor vehicles or the production of tobacco products also recorded increases in the net average salary.

On the other side, the metallurgy and crude petroleum and natural gas sectors saw drops in the average wage.

When compared to November 2014, the average net wage in Romania went up by 10%, in nominal terms.
