Most Romanians are satisfied with their couple relationship while many just want more time together

15 September 2015

More than three in five Romanians (62%) say they are satisfied or very satisfied with their couple relationship and only 18% say they are unhappy, according to a survey made by Extreme Training, for the John Gray conference in Bucharest.

Men tend to have a better perception of their domestic relationship than women. Some 67% of all male respondents feel good about their couple life, compared to 57% of women. On the other hand, only 14% of men are unsatisfied, compared to 22% of the questioned women.

The differences can be explained through the way women appreciate their couple relationship quality. While men don’t usually ask to be listened to and understood, women have this need, according to Extreme Training.

However, even if they are generally satisfied, only 13% of Romanians say that all their needs are satisfied by their couple relationship, while 87% have at least one unsatisfied need. The most frequent need that doesn’t get fulfilled is spending time together. Almost half (44%) of the respondents pointed to this.

Most Romanians (45%) say they spend between 2 and 4 hours per day doing activities together with their partners while more than a quarter (26%) spend only one hour or less.

Among the other needs that remain unfulfilled in couple relationships are the need for appreciation (27% said that), adventure (24% of the answers), affection (21%), money (21%), and safety (21%). Only 19% of Romanians say they don’t get enough sex, according to the survey.

A total of 1,369 people participated in this study, which has a margin for error of 2.6%, according to Extreme Training.

Famous American relationship counselor John Gray, best known for his book Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus, will hold two conferences in Romania, one in Bucharest, on November 17, and the other in Cluj-Napoca, on November 19.
