More Romanians go on city break holidays. Which are the most popular destinations?

The number of Romanian tourists who have booked city break holidays in the first eight months of this year is three times higher compared to the same period the previous year, according to data from Romanian tourism agency Paravion.ro. Some Romanians go on such holidays even twice a year.

Amsterdam, Vienna, Istanbul, Warsaw and Munich are the most popular city breaks sold by Paravion.ro. Tourists spend up to EUR 300 per person on a 3-night stay in one of these destinations, breakfast included.

When choosing a destination for a city break holiday, Romanians take into account the tariffs and the number of tourist attractions in the cities they plan to visit.

In 2015, most of those who booked city breaks on Paravion.ro, namely 70%, were young people. They spent an average of EUR 250 per person, and their favorite destinations were Prague, Barcelona, and Amsterdam.

Senior travelers represented the remaining 30%. They spent EUR 300 per person on average, having Prague, Vienna, and Munich as favorite destinations.

The average Romanian city break tourist is 30 to 35 years old, prefers to travel accompanied and by plane. He usually opts for 3-night stays with breakfast included, according to Paravion.ro.
