Microsoft appoints Ronald Binkofski at the helm of Romanian subsidiary

Ronald Binkofski (in picture) is the new general manager of Microsoft Romania, replacing Calin Tatomir, who has recently resigned after two years at the helm of the company.

Binkofski has joined Microsoft Romania from the Polish subsidiary, where he has worked for the last five years as Developer & Platform Evangelism Lead and more recently, Director of Marketing, Business and Operations.

He has also worked as CEE Area Manager with Software AG. Ronald Binkofski, a German and Polish citizen, has graduated the Jagiellonian Applied Mathematics University and has specialized in mathematics from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt.

He is the second expat coming from Poland to join the Romanian subsidiary, after Michal Golebiewski joined the Microsoft Romania team as Business, Marketing and Operations (BMO) Lead earlier this year.

Microsoft Romania has seen its turnover back upwards from December last year and hopes to achieve a 6 percent hike in its revenues for the fiscal year 2011, compared to 2010, the company has announced without disclosing the actual sales figure. Microsoft Romania posted a sales increase of 3 percent during January – June this year.

The company’s main priority will be the cloud computing segment, which will also help it reduce the rate of software piracy, which stays at 65 percent in Romania, almost double the average in the European Union, according to its most recent announcement.
