Meteorologists: No winter in Romania until early-December

10 November 2015

Meteorologists estimate that there will be no winter conditions in Romania until December 2.

According to Ion Sandu, the head of the National Weather Agency ANM, it is unlikely to snow in Romania until November 24, except for higher areas where winter might come faster. Starting November 24, the weather is expected to get slightly colder, but the probability for mixed precipitation will remain low, reports local Profit.ro.

According to Ion Sandu, winter starts if temperatures below zero are registered throughout the night, and day temperatures stay near zero. These conditions might appear after December 2.

Romania is currently experiencing higher than normal temperatures for this time of year, or what is commonly referred to as Indian summer. Tomorrow, the maximum air temperature in Bucharest is expected to pass 20 degrees Celsius in the afternoon and shouldn’t stay around 8 degrees during the night.

The temperatures will then start to descend and reach about 10 degrees Celsius during the day and 2 degrees Celsius during the night, in the third decade of November, according to official forecasts.
