Mega Image opens five stores in a day, ends 2015 with a network of 471 units in Romania

Belgian retailer Mega Image continues its expansion on the local market and will end 2015 with a network of 471 stores. After opening three stores on December 23, the retailer has five more units scheduled for opening on December 30.

Last week, on December 23, the retailer opened a 90-sqm Shop&Go store in Bucharest, a 550-sqm Mega Image supermarket in Fierbinti, Ialomita county, and a 653-sqm supermarket in Bragadiru, Ilfov county.

The retailer also recently opened its biggest concept store in Romania, a 2,100 sqm supermarket in Baneasa, in northern Bucharest.

On Wednesday this week, the retailer will open five more units in Bucharest. Four of them are Shop&Go proximity shops, and one is a Mega Image supermarket.

“2015 was a reference year for us, as we consolidated our position on the market and our investments in new projects were felt by all our customers,” said Vasileios Stavrou, general manager Mega Image.

Founded in 1995, the company runs a network of 471 stores in Romania, under the Mega Image, Shop&Go, AB Cool Food, and Gusturi Romanesti brands. The retailer is part of Belgian group Delhaize, which currently present on three continents.
