London Olympics opening ceremony, plus when and where to watch in Romania

27 July 2012

The Olympic Games in London starts today ( July 27 ) at 23:00 Romanian time, with an opening ceremony costing around EUR 35 million to stage. British Director Danny Boyle led the opening ceremony project and the show will present a 'vision' of British civilization.

Around a billion people are expected to watch the opening ceremony worldwide, which the organizers say will contrast sharply with the Beijing Olympics opening. A more 'human' show is promised in London, beginning with an image of British rural life, continuing to the transition to industrial society, then focusing on British values, among which music has an essential place.

Google is also celebrating the Olympic Games with a special logo, which has five athletes, three men and two women, each representing one sport: soccer, swimming, sprinting, javelin, and fencing. Google has also created a special page for the games that can be accessed by the public for the latest news from London www.google.co.uk .

In Romania, viewers can watch the London Olympic Games on TVR 1, TVR 2, TVR 3, TVR HD jo2012.tvr.ro. Romania Libera and TVR will make additional exclusive TV programs, airing on July 27 and August 3. Don't forget, many bars in Bucharest and elsewhere should be showing the Games, as during the Euro 2012 football competition.
