“Little Orchestra” Pink Martini to play again in Romania this October

Oregon-based group Pink Martini will perform again in Romania on October 15 this year, at Sala Palatului in Bucharest.

Pink Martini are a musical group formed in 1994 by pianist Thomas Lauderdale. Their music is inspired by several music genres, crossing from jazz to classical and even pop.

Pink Martini made their European debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 and their orchestral debut with the Oregon Symphony in 1998 under the direction of Norman Leyden. Since then, the band have performed with more than 50 orchestras around the world.

The group’s first album Sympathique was released in 1997, bringing the group nominations for Song of the Year and Best New Artist in France’s Victoires de la Musique Awards in 2000. In 2011, Pink Martini released their latest album 1969, an album of collaborations with Japanese singer Saori Yuki. Read more about the group on their official website here.

This is Pink Martini’s fifth concert in Romania. The group previously held two concerts at Sala Palatului in Bucharest - in 2012 and 2007, in 2009 they performed at the Teatrul National de Opereta, while in 2010, the group played at the Ciuc Summer Fest.
