LG Romania switches to premium smartphones

02 June 2015

South Korean electronics manufacturer LG wants to sell 36,000 LG G4 smartphones in Romania. It is the newest smartphone the company has introduced on the local market.

LG wants to turn its business towards premium phones, which would compete with phones such as Samsung Galaxy S6 or iPhone6, reports local Wall-street.ro.

LG also produces phones with prices starting from EUR 65. However, the competition on this segment is very high, and the Romanian market is very fragmented, so the company currently focuses on the high-end segment, said Ion Iosifescu, senior manager within the LG Romania mobile division.

The smartphone market will continue to grow, exceeding 70% of the total number of phones sold.
