Investments in Romania's electricity networks reach EUR 2.2 bln in 7 years

The investments in the electricity transport and distribution networks in Romania amounted to EUR 2.2 billion between 2008 and 2014, according to the Federation of Energy Utility Companies Associations (ACUE).

The ACUE member companies also invested EUR 430 million between 2008 and 2013 in expanding and improving the gas distribution networks.

The gas and electricity companies have invested in Romania EUR 8.7 billion since their privatization, and have investment plans of about EUR 600 million. The local network needs significant additional investments to reach a level comparable to the European networks.

The ACUE has 27 members, including E.ON Romania, GDF SUEZ Energy Romania, Distrigaz Sud Retele, and ENEL Romania. These companies have more than 30,000 employees and an annual turnover of over EUR 5.4 billion.
