Interesting Romanians share the stage with foreign speakers at TEDx Bucharest this year

Several Romanians with interesting stories will share the stage with foreigners at the upcoming edition of the TEDx conference in Bucharest. Explorers, architects, a comedian, Romanians who went on world discovery trips, an engineer, a film director – all Romanians who have been included in the TEDx conference, along side 11 foreign speakers. Over 20 speakers will talk at this edition of TEDx Bucharest event, that will take place on November 11 at Grand Cinema Digiplex. We highlight some of the most interesting stories of Romanians who will be on stage for the event. For a full list of speakers, go here

Sasha, Laura & Florian Campeanu are a Romanian family living at the ocean in an eco-village in Brazil. They left Romania in 2009 to live in a place without stress, pollution and noise.

Dan Perjovschi is an artist, writer and cartoonist who has created drawings in museum spaces, one of which in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. We wrote about this Famous Romanian here.

Teo is a stand-up comedian, the co-founder of the 99 Comedy Club. He talks with black humor about the small things of everyday life that happen to all of us.

Ionut and Ana are two architects who decided to meet their dream of seeing the world. For over 150 days they are crossing Africa on a motorcycle. They have also traveled independently in Europe, Turkey, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia and Sri Lanka by car, scooter and other means of transportation.

Cristian Pascu is the creator of FlairBuilder, a prototyping and wireframing tool for websites, RIAs and iPhone applications.

Toma Coconea is a full time paragliding adventurer who has taken part in many competitions, both national and international.

Vlad Grigorescu is a showman who combines psychological techniques, suggestion, misdirection, sleight of hand and a lot of intuition to create the illusion of a sixth sense. He is the first to bring the concept of mentalism and stage hypnosis to Romania and he’s renowned for his skepticism regarding the paranormal.

Cristian Lascu is a speleologist and the chief editor of National Geographic Romania. He discovered about 35km of cave galleries together with his teams.

Uca Marinescu is a 70-year old Romanian explorer, the first explorer over sixties to have reached both the South Pole and the North Pole on skis, in 2001 . She is the president ofthe Sport and Environment Commission of the Romanian Olympic Committee.

Horia Colibasanu is the first Romanian to reach the summit of K2, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri and Annapurna and receiver of the “Spirit of Mountaineering” award.

Dumitru Popescu is the founder of the Romanian Cosmonautics and Aeronautics Association. He created Demonstrator 2B, the world's first rocket equipped with completely reusable composite materials monopropellant rocket engine, ever to fly. During the ARCA’s Google Lunar X Prize program Dumitru will be the team leader as well as the propulsion engineer.

Alex Rotaru is the director of several award-winning documentaries – including the New York Times Critic’s Pick 'They come to play', and 'Kids with cameras'. His most recent project, 'Shakespeare High', a feature documentary executive produced by Kevin Spacey and starring Spacey, Richard Dreyfuss, Mare Winningham and Val Kilmer, is about teens improving their lives through theater and has just premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Bogdan Lazar is the founder of Golem Studio, a company that produces entertainment using imagination and technology.
