Gross premiums subscribed by clients of Romanian insurer ING Asigurari increased by 8% in the first six months of this year, to EUR 68 million. This was mainly supported by improved economic perspectives and higher purchase power for the population, said the company’s representatives, quoted by Mediafax.

The average yearly premium increased by 6%, to RON 1,700 (EUR 385), while the average insured amount was up 18% to more than RON 50,000 (EUR 11,300). ING Asigurari payments for compensations or contracts that reached maturity in the period were EUR 13.9 million.

The company saw its gross profit increase almost three times, to EUR 3.37 million, while its assets were up 11%, to EUR 610 million. ING Asigurari holds a 38% market share in the life insurance segment.
