11 July 2016

Hundreds of Brits took part on Saturday in a rally in support of a Romanian shop in Norwich, east Anglia, which had been targeted in an arson attack on Friday morning, according to Eastern Daily Press.

A brick was thrown at the Village Shop, which sells Eastern European food, and a fire was started in the early morning hours.

On Saturday, crowds gathered in front of the store to show their support for the Romanian owner. They called the gathering a “love bombing” rally. Moreover, people used the crowdfunding website JustGiving and raised over GBP 29,000 for the Romanian family whose store had been attacked.

According to Guardian, the attack comes amid a recent spike in reported hate crimes and incidents which peaked the day after the Brexit referendum result was announced.
