How much did Romanians spend on their Easter break?

Some 105,600 Romanians went to local resorts for the Easter holidays, leading to an average occupancy rate of about 77%. They spent circa EUR 7 million for food and accommodation.

Only about 5,000 Romanians went abroad for the Easter break, spending some EUR 1.3 million, according to the Romanian Tourism Employers Federation (FPTR).

Many Romanians had to choose between the Easter break and the May 1 mini-holiday, which are three weeks apart, according to FPTR representatives.

The most popular destinations were rural guesthouses in Bran-Moeciu, Bucovina, Vrancea, Marginimea Sibiului, Maramures and Buzau, which drew about 65,000 tourists. The occupation rate was 86% and the total spending reached EUR 4.42 million

Mountain resorts welcomed 22,000 tourists, and some 18,000 people went to spa resorts. Total spending in resorts was EUR 2.6 million.

Only 300 tourists went to seaside hotels for Easter, and another 300 went to the Danube Delta.
