How many young Romanians would like to become entrepreneurs?

03 March 2016

About two in ten young Romanians aged between 18 and 24 want to become entrepreneurs in the next year. They are mainly interested in starting a business in trade (26%), agriculture (18%), and professional services (16%), according to a study conducted by GfK Romania and presented at the Romanian Business Leaders Summit on Thursday, March 3.

The respondents consider that the state taxes and the local taxes, the tax agency’s bureaucracy, and the access to financing are the main obstacles when it comes to setting up a business. The lack of knowledge about how to start and run a business represents another obstacle invoked by the young Romanians, alongside the poor state of the local economy, and the lack of political stability (the change of the Government and local regulations).

Most of the young Romanians who want to become entrepreneurs (80%) think that the businessmen should get more involved in the country’s important issues. Also, 45% see failure as a learning opportunity.
