Hospice Casa Sperantei raises EUR 130,000 at charity ball in Bucharest

Hospice Casa Sperantei charity raised EUR 130,000 for its new palliative care center in Bucharest at the Edelweiss ball over the weekend. The highlight of the evening was the Olympic Torch, which was auctioned off for some EUR 15,000. Romanian Radu George won the bid for the torch. Other items on sale were Grand Prix VIP tickets, a dinner on the Arc de Triomphe, objects donated by Hollywood stars, diamond jewelry and a visit to a film set plus a meeting with director Terry Gilliam.

This was the 12th edition of the ball, which has a 1920s theme and welcomed some 300 guests at the Radisson hotel.

Hospice Casa Sperantei has been offering palliative care in Romania – Bucharest, Brasov, Fagaras and Zarnesti- for the last 20 years.
