Freight traffic in Romanian ports slightly up in 2015

The total freight traffic recorded in the Romanian ports of Constanta, Midia, and Mangalia amounted to 56.33 million tons in 2015, up by 1.25% compared to the previous year.

The sea traffic in the three ports reached 43.6 million tons last year whereas the river traffic totaled 12.73 million tons.

The maritime freight traffic rose by 1.28% year-on-year, while the river transport went up by 1.15%.

The grain traffic increased from 17.4 million tons in 2014 to 19.6 million tons in 2015. The oil traffic grew from 4.71 million tons to 5.16 million tons. Grain and crude oil represented almost half of the total traffic.

The traffic with metal products and solid mineral fuels also recorded annual increases whereas the traffic with iron ore halved from 5.5 million tons to 2.75 million tons.
