Free books for Bucharest subway commuters

12 July 2016

Bucharest metro commuters who like to read a book while on the subway could receive another book for free during a campaign initiated by local Litera publishing house and metro operator Metrorex.

The campaign, called Book at the subway (Cartea la metrou), aims to encourage reading on the subway and will take place between July 18 and July 22, from Monday to Friday, between 09:00 and 11:00. In this period, Litera volunteers will offer a book to all those seen reading while on the subway, on Line 2, which connects Pipera to Berceni.

More information about the event here.

A study conducted by iVox.ro revealed that most Romanians (43%) like to read books at home, 17% like to read books outdoors, and 10% like to read books in front of the computer. They also like to read while in the bathroom or while traveling by subway.
