Four Romanian members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have been shortlisted for the Parliament Magazine’s 2016 MEP Awards.

Romanian Laurentiu Rebega, from the Europe of Nations and Freedom (ENL) political group, was nominated in the Agriculture section, while Monica Macovei was shortlisted in the foreign affairs group, on behalf of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group (ECR).

The other two Romanians with chances to win the big prize this year are Cristian-Silviu Busoi from the European People's Party (EPP) – nominated in the health category, and Claudia Tapardel from Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) – shortlisted in the tourism section.

The awarding ceremony will take place on March 16, 2016.

The awards, which bring together members of the European Parliament, the Commission and the EU Stakeholder community, celebrate the work and achievements of our European deputies across a range of policy areas.

In 2015, Romanian Victor Negrescu (S&D) won the digital agenda award, while Adina-Ioana Valean (EPP) was the winner of the energy award.

The Parliament Magazine has been running the awards since 2005.
