Former Romanian minister complains about prison conditions

Decebal Traian Remes, the former minister of Agriculture, has sued the National Administration of Penitentiaries and the Baia Mare Prison demanding moral damages of RON 5,000 (EUR 1,116).

On November 25, last year, the Bucharest District 2 Court admitted his request. The two institutions have to pay the former minister damages of RON 5,000, reports local Dailybusiness.ro. They have challenged the decision at the Bucharest Court.

Remes received three years in prison for bribery. However, he was released on parole after serving a third of his sentence because he turned 60. He complained about the jail conditions.
