Former business journalist named executive director of Romanian Association of Exporters

The Romanian Association of Exporters (AREX) recently appointed Razvan Voican, former deputy editor in chief at Ziarul Financiar – Romania’s leading financial newspaper, as executive director, starting this month.

“After 14 years of journalism I have decided to join this community that deserves a higher visibility both for larger audiences and authorities that have to understand the role of exporters in taking the economy out of recession,” said Voican.

He has worked for Ziarul Financiar for 14 years, coordinating the banking and finance sections of the newspaper.

The Romanian Association of Exporters – AREX is a professional organization, non-governmental, having as aim to promote the interests of Romanian companies involved in international commercial transactions in view of the consolidation of Romanian presence on foreign markets.

The association has started its activity this year with 80 companies as founding members. Among them there are large industrial groups in Romania such as aluminum producer Alro Slatina, oil and gas services company Grup Servicii Petroliere (GSP), cable producers ICME Ecab and Romcab and energy equipment producer General Turbo.

The president of the association is Traian Halalai, president of Eximbank, Romania’s state-owned bank that finances export and import activities. Eximbank was the initiator of this association.
