Fewer homes delivered in Romania in first half of the year
The number of housing units delivered in the first half of this year reached 23,057, down 4.7% year-on-year, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).
Most of the new homes were finalized in urban areas, namely 57.6% of the total.
The number of residential units made with private funds dropped by 1,619 between January and June compared to the same period last year, to 22,300 units. Meanwhile, the number of residential projects financed with public funds rose by 570, to 758 units.
Five out of eight of Romania’s regions saw decreases in the number of homes delivered in the first six months of this year. Bucharest recorded a slight increase during this period.
Some 12,974 housing units were delivered in the second quarter of this year, up 347 year-on-year. More than half of them (56.9%) were in urban areas.
