Fellow cops jump to support Marian Godina, Romania’s most popular policeman

The National Union of Police Officers in Romania has publicly asked for the resignation of Ioan Aron, the head of the Brasov County Police Department (IPJ Brasov). The police officers accuse Aron of inappropriate behavior towards subordinates.

Their action comes soon after Marian Godina, who works as a traffic policeman at IPJ Brasov, started to expose his superiors’ abusive behavior through a series of Facebook posts.

According to the Union’s announcement, the cases presented by Godina were not the only incidents at IPJ Brasov.

“In this county, there was a police officer with 114 tasks in the job description, road policemen were investigated, suspended, or even wrongly convicted because of the Traffic Police chief,” reads the statement.

Moreover, “in the Brasov university campus, the chief of police and the campus manager allowed the installation of video cameras and microphones, so they could watch the students without having the right to do so, and even to put pressure on some students based on these records.”

Marian Godina became the most popular policeman in Romania after he started to post on Facebook a series of real stories from his day-to-day activity. He even decided to turn his Facebook stories into a book.
