Extremely cold weather in Romania this week

After a strong blizzard hit southeastern Romania this weekend, affecting the road and air traffic and closing schools, Romania will experience extremely cold weather as the air temperatures will drop in most of the country’s regions starting Monday night.

According to meteorologists, between January 18, 23:00, and January 21, 10:00, the weather will be extremely cold in most regions. In southeastern, eastern and central Romania, the temperatures will mainly stay negative during the day, and will drop to minus 15 degrees Celsius during the night. Moreover, in some parts of Muntenia, Oltenia and southeastern Transylvania, it will be even colder, with temperatures dropping as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius.

The wind will also blow strongly in some of Romania’s regions at the beginning of the week making the perceived temperatures even lower. Thus, on the night of Monday to Tuesday (January 18-19) and the first part of Tuesday (January 19), the wind will blow with 45-50 km per hour in Moldova, Dobrogea and eastern Muntenia. At the seaside, the wind can blow with up to 60 km per hour.

According to the National Meteorological Administration, the weather is to remain extremely cold in Romania until January 26.

According to meteorologists, between January 18, 23:00, and January 21, 10:00, the weather will be extremely cold in most regions. In southeastern, eastern and central Romania, the temperatures will mainly stay negative during the day, and will drop to minus 15 degrees Celsius during the night. Moreover, in some parts of Muntenia, Oltenia and southeastern Transylvania, it will be even colder, with temperatures dropping as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius.
