EU agrees on Iranian oil embargo
European Union leaders have agreed to put a stop on oil imports from Iran, according to Reuters, quoting EU diplomats. The oil embargo has been previously rejected by Greece, which gets a third of its oil from Iran, as well as Italy and Spain, also among buyers of Iranian oil.
EU governments and the US are trying to cut off Iran's revenues after information emerged on the country's plans to build an atomic bomb, according to an United Nations report. However, Iran says the program is non-military.
EU countries are the second largest buyer of Iranian oil, after China. Iranian officials say the country could easily replace the lost buyers. China has already diminished its order by more than a half.
