DP World builds USD 15 mln intermodal terminal in central Romania

Dubai-based multinational logistics company DP World, one of the largest port operators in the world, will invest USD 15 mln in an intermodal terminal in Decea, near Aiud, Ziarul Financiar reported.

The terminal will connect the central area of ​​the country with the port of Constanta.

The DP World terminal will be located in Aiud Intermodal Park Romania, an investment developed by Belgian company ILD.

The processing capacity of the new terminal will be over 50,000 TEU containers per year, and the storage capacity of 3,000 TEU (20-foot equivalent unit, the size of the smallest equipment used to transport goods) containers.

In addition to the intermodal terminal, which will cover an area of ​​approximately 27,000 square meters, the logistics park will include various other facilities for production and future logistics developments, which will occupy a total area of ​​over 80,000 square meters.

The terminal will become operational in the first half of 2023.
