Domo’s stores in Romania to be acquired by competition

18 November 2015

Electro-IT retailers Flanco and Altex will acquire each over ten stores that belonged to their competitor Domo, which has recently decided to close all its 75 traditional stores in Romania and keep only its online operations.

Flanco has taken over the Domo store in the Baneasa area, north of Bucharest and is interested in other stores as well, according to company representatives. However, they did not specify the total number of Domo units they want to acquire.

According to market sources, Flanco will take over ten stores, reports local Ziarul Financiar. Some of them will be opened this year, whereas others will be opened in 2016. The Baneasa store will be opened next week, in time for Black Friday.

Altex will also take at least ten Domo stores, according to market sources. The company’s owner Dan Ostahie did not make any comment.

After closing its physical stores, Domo will find it difficult to face the competition in online, said Iulian Stanciu, general manager of Romania’s largest online retailer eMag.
