Danone’s revenues in Romania down 5% in 2013
Dairy producer Danone Romania registered revenues of EUR 109 million last year, down 5 percent year-on-year.
“We expected this slight decrease in 2013. Consumption didn’t recover last year, the consumers stayed cautious and spent less, and, in addition, we had a negative impact on the evolution of raw materials’ prices,” said Dieter Schulz, general manager Danone South-Eastern Europe, quoted by local Wall-street.ro.
“In 2014 we see the dairy market remaining a challenge, with consumers who spend with caution, and higher production costs,” he added.
Danone has been active on the Romanian market since 1996, and its investments in Romania amount to over EUR 68 million, of which some EUR 5 million were invested in partner farms.The company employs some 500 people.
