Romania adds close to 1,300 coronavirus cases in 24 hours, total exceeds 50,000

Romania reported 1,295 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, pushing the total to 50,886 on Friday, July 31, the authorities announced in the daily report released at 13:00.

Separately, 654 patients who were retested still had the Covid-19 infection.

Of the total cases, 27,007 patients have recovered, while 4,433 asymptomatic patients were discharged ten days after the diagnosis.

Furthermore, 39 coronavirus patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 2,343 since the start of the pandemic.

Of those who passed away in the last 24 hours, one was aged between 30 and 39, two between 40 and 49, three between 50 and 59, 12 between 60 and 69, 14 between 70 and 79, and seven were over 80 years old. All of them had previous medical conditions. 

The number of patients admitted to intensive care units increased to 409, from 402 the day before. Meanwhile, 7,456 coronavirus patients are admitted to hospitals in the country.

At a national level, 1,202,607 tests were carried out by July 31, 22,767 of them in the past 24 hours and 9,654 on request. 

Throughout Romania, 4,458 people who tested positive for the Covid-19 infection were isolating at home, while 4,530 people were in institutionalized isolation. At the same time, 18,525 people were under quarantine at home, and 53 under institutionalized quarantine.
