Consumer prices increase in Romania in October compared to September
Consumer prices went up by 0.28% in Romania in October compared to the previous month. However, the annual inflation (October 2015 compared to October 2014) remained negative, at -1.6%, for the fifth month in a row.
In October, the food prices went up by 0.5% compared to the previous month while the non-food prices went up by 0.13% and the services also got more expensive by 0.27%.
Vegetable prices went up by 4.52% in October compared to September while egg prices increased by 4.03%.
When compared to October 2014, food prices went down by 6.5%, mainly due to the VAT rate cut on food from 24% to 9% in June this year. Non-food merchandise prices went up by 0.75% in the past 12 months while service fees increased by 2.1%.
Romania’s National Bank expects the annual inflation rate to remain negative until June next year.
