Claas sells EUR 48.5 mln of harvesters, tractors in Romania

29 May 2012

German agricultural technology manufacturer Claas sold 160 tractors and 196 harvesters in Romania last year, making some EUR 48.5 million in the process on the Romanian market. That was 8.6 percent of the sales in the region and higher than the sales in Italy and Spain, according to Luigi Radu, head of sales and marketing for Claas in Romania.

The company's target is to reach a 40 percent market share for harvesters and a 20 percent market share for tractors in Romania, a market that offers more opportunities for growth in the agricultural segment than in the saturated Western European markets.

Claas had a turnover of EUR 3.3 billion worldwide in 2011. The company is a family business founded in 1913, with corporate headquarters in Harsewinkel, Westphalia, Germany. The company employs more than 9,000 workers worldwide.
