Cesaria Evora cancels Romanian concert scheduled for October

Cesaria Evora, also known as the “barefoot diva” for her shoe-less performances, has canceled the concert that was supposed to be held on October 5, 2011, in Bucharest, due to some health problems, according to the organizers. However, the artist "expressed the desire to end her career in a last show to be held in Bucharest”, according to Sorin Sararu, Project Events representative.

People who have already bought tickets to the Cesaria Evora concert can change the ticket, starting September 27, with one of a greater value, with a discount of up to 70 percent. Thus, those who bought a ticket for RON 50, 100, 150 or RON 200, can receive  a ticket to the lodge, while people that bought tickets for RON 250 and RON 300 will receive a ticket to the official lodge, without paying the difference. They can choose from other shows to be held in Romania by Project Events, namely Lord Of The Dance, Nana Mouskouri, Salvatore Adamo, Demis Roussos, The Nutcracker (ice ballet) or Lara Fabian.

In case people that purchased tickets for Cesaria Evora doesn’t want to see any of these other shows, they can get the money back from the Biletoo network, starting September 28.

Cesaria Evora was born on August 27, 1941 in Mindelo, Cape Verde. She released her first album “La Diva Aux Pieds Nus” (The Barefoot Diva) in 1988, and held her first concert in Paris to a small crowd on October 1st. Three years later, in 1991, she released her first acoustic album.

During her career, Cesaria Evora released 11 studio albums, and her song appeared on 10 compilations and live albums. Read more about the artist here.

Update, September 27: Cesaria Evora might perform in Romania on December 7, 2011, according to the organizers. Tickets for the concert are going to be put for sale right after the new date of the concert will be confirmed.

Update, October 3: Cesaria Evora canceled the concert to be held in Romania. People who have already bought tickets to the Cesaria Evora concert can change the ticket with one for Lord Of The Dance, Nana Mouskouri, Salvatore Adamo, Demis Roussos, The Nutcracker (ice ballet) or Lara Fabian, or they can get the money back.
