A Mercedes-Benz that belonged to late communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu will be sold at an auction in Ireland this March.

The car has been put up for sale by its current anonymous owner, an Irishman who acquired it in 2007. The funds will go to “Crosscause, an Irish charity, founded in 2003 to support and educate more than 60 special-needs orphans in Romania,” The Irish Times reports.

According to international auctioneers Bonhams, the Mercedes still has the “secret police” technology. Its value is estimated at between EUR 30,000 and EUR 50,000.

Nicolae Ceausescu bought the Mercedes-Benz 350 SL in 1973 but hasn’t used it much. After 16 years of his ownership, the clock had recorded just 4,038 kilometers. 

Another car that belonged to Ceausescu sold for EUR 37,000 at an auction in Romania last year.
