Bucharest’s heating system could get EUR 176 mln from the EU

Bucharest’s heating system could receive EUR 176 million financings through the European Union’s Large Infrastructure Operational Programme (LIOP).

In total, some 19 projects in the local energy sector may be allocated EUR 494.3 million within this programme, according to data from the European Funds Ministry, reports local Economica.net.

The heating systems in eight other cities will be able to access total financings worth EUR 197.8 million.

Eight smart metering projects will get EUR 40.5 million, whereas gas transport projects will get EUR 55 million, and energy transport project will receive EUR 25 million.

Romania was also allocated EUR 111.5 million for renewable energy projects, but no project has been submitted. Also, no one submitted projects on “monitoring consumption in industry” or “cogeneration.”
