Bucharest's District 3 City Hall spends EUR 7 mln on paving and fences

11 January 2016

Bucharest’s District 3 City Hall spent about EUR 7 million in 2014 to redecorate the sidewalks on the Unirii Boulevard in Bucharest, according to a report by the Romanian Court of Accounts, the institution in charge of auditing public spending.

The authorities paid EUR 4.5 million to set up colored concrete structures, ornamental granite paving, lights, and fences. The municipality also paid EUR 1.5 million to set up green spaces on that boulevard, reports local Hotnews.ro.

The decoration works on the Unirii Boulevard started in 2013, and the District 3 City Hall allocated some EUR 9 million for the project.

The Court of Accounts found a damage of over EUR 1.3 million at the District 3 City Hall in 2013.

Even more, the District 3 City Hall made investments on a street that didn’t belong to it, because the Unirii Boulevard is under the management of the Bucharest City Hall, according to the same source.
